What you can ask Asana

Ask in plain language, with no slash commands. Asana replies in the thread so the whole team sees the result.

These are examples of the kind of request to try. What Asana can do depends on your Asana account and permissions.

How to chat with Asana in a channel

  1. Enable it for the workspace. An admin or owner opens the Apps tab, switches to MCP, finds Asana and enables it.
  2. Connect your account. Each person signs in to Asana once. FabricLoop acts as you, using your permissions.
  3. Message it directly. Select Asana in the left nav or in Messages to chat with it in its own channel.
  4. Or mention it in any channel. Type @, pick Asana and describe what you want. It replies in the thread on your message, so everyone in the channel can see it, and you can keep going there for follow-ups.

Direct channel app. Asana also has a direct connection. Open a channel, choose Apps and Agents from the header menu, then Add app (direct connection), and Asana events land in that channel as they happen.

Read more in the help center: talk to an installed app, the MCP catalog and installing a channel app.

Asana integration FAQ

What is the Asana MCP server URL?

The Asana MCP server is at https://mcp.asana.com/v2/mcp. FabricLoop connects to it for you when an admin enables Asana, so you do not paste the URL anywhere.

How do I use Asana in FabricLoop?

An admin enables Asana from the Apps tab under MCP and each person connects their own Asana account. Then select Asana in the left nav or in Messages to chat with it in its own channel, or type @ in any channel, pick Asana and ask in plain language. In a channel it replies in the thread.

Who can see what Asana returns?

Asana replies in the channel thread, so everyone in that channel sees the answer. It uses the connecting person's Asana permissions, and the connection does not expand anyone's membership in FabricLoop.
